Artist Statement
I’ve always approached my art as a primal expression, limited not to paints or to clay but any element at my disposal. Whatever is textured, whatever has colors that catch the eyes, whatever invokes feelings of “what if?” – any and all are available to me as I interpret the world around me. It is truly art without boundaries.
But as much as the visible and tactile, I also focus inward for creative inspiration. Remembrances, unconscious thoughts, or feelings evoked by my role as a husband and father move me to expression. When thought meets form, my art results.
Brief Bio
Was born and raised and still resides in Naples,Florida. Discovered art in the fifth grade. In high school I was sought after by a company looking for a young artistic student to work part time in their growing decorative accessory studio. After a year of college I decided to go into it full time. After four years I decided I wanted to make a name for myself and went and started my own painting company. I was always called an artist but never really considered myself as one. I never really knew what an artist was. I have learned that every one can be an artist, not everyone is a good artist but an artist nevertheless. I consider my self a professional artist now because thats what I do on a full time basis. When I found out the true definition of Buon Fresco(painting of natural pigments onto wet plaster)I was hooked. I love the fact even in the cave man days people have created art. They used what they had available, blood ,sap, earth pigments mixed with spit, whatever. I try to bring back the old techniques used for thousands of years. I love the mixed media because it lets you open up to whatever you want. I have been known to use plasters, wood, coffee, wine, wax, copper, gold, silver, charcoal, crayons, sand, sawdust, drop cloths and others. My art comes from th inside. I find inspiration everywhere. From nature, to vacations, to the stuff my twins say or do, to lifew ups and downs, it is all there just waiting to be discovered. I leave my pieces open to interpretation because I believe each viewer brings their own thought to the piece and has their own relation to it. In my mind, thats the real beauty of it all...
